Site Accessibility

Here at Norfolk Frames we have set up access keys for your use. Access key allows a computer user to immediately jump to a specific part of a web page via the keyboard. We have set up these specific keys in order to help you navigate the site quickly and limit the possible conflict with existing access keys. These keys can be found here. Details of how these keys work can be found below.

Windows users can navigate with the access key feature by typing ALT + Accesskey. On the Mac, you would use CTRL + Accesskey (not COMMAND + Accesskey, which can produce undesired effects). Internet Explorer users may also need to hit the "enter" key to activate a link. Below is a list of browsers and information on how to activate the hot keys.

Browser What to do
Internet Explorer 5+ (PC) Hold down the ALT key, press the number of the access key, release both keys then press ENTER
Internet Explorer 4 (PC) Hold down the ALT key and press the number of the access key
Netscape 6 and earlier (PC and Mac) Access keys are not supported
Internet Explorer 5+ (Mac) Hold down the CTRL key and press the number of the access key
Internet Explorer 4.5 (Mac) Access keys are not supported
Netscape 7 (PC) Hold down the ALT key and press the number of the access key
Firefox, Mozilla (PC) Hold down the ALT key and press the number of the access key
Firefox, Mozilla (Mac) Hold down the CTRL key and press the number of the access key
Safari and Omniweb (Mac) Hold down the CTRL key and press the number of the access key
Opera Hold down the Shift key and press Escape, release both keys, then press the number of the accesskey

Windows users will find that accesskeys take precedence over application commands, which can still be accessed from the keyboard by first typing the menu shortcut key (usually ALT) followed by the letter corresponding to the desired menu item.

Tabindexes

These allow you to cycle through most if not all links on pages without the use of a pointing device such as a mouse.

Resizing the text

All text is assigned a relative font size - this means that you can resize the text if you want to.

To increase or decrease the text size:

  • Internet Explorer: View > Text size
  • Netscape: Edit > Preferences > Appearance > Fonts
  • Opera: File > Preferences > Fonts > Font size (pixels)

Alternatively, scroll with the wheel of your mouse whilst holding down the control key.
