Windows

Operating Procedure

To open the window the button on the handle must be depressed which will allow the handle to turn (1). To close, turn handle to closed position and the button lock will automatically re-engage (2). The windows also have a night ventilation facility. To engage, open window as above by approximately ½ inch and lock the window in this position by turning the handle. This will provide permanent air movement whilst the window is still locked (3).

Cleaning

PVC-U windows should be cleaned at periodic intervals to maintain their original appearance. The frequency depends upon the ambient atmosphere but as a general rule the frame should be cleaned whenever the glass is cleaned. The best method of cleaning is to use a clean cloth and a solution of detergent, diluted to the normal concentration for washing up.

At no time rub the dirt with a dry or semidry cloth as this might lead to scratching of the surface.

Internal surfaces may be polished with a colourless silicone furniture polish after washing if required.

Special Circumstances

If a surface has been allowed to become excessively dirty, it should be cleaned as recommended above. If any unsightly stains remain, they should be removed using a mild household non-scouring cream, followed by washing. Abrasive materials should not be used for any cleaning purpose as these can cause scratching of the surface. Especially avoid the use of steel wool pads, as these might cause permanent stains.

Glass

Glass should be cleaned with a standard, window cleaning product

Maintenance of Windows

Friction stays (hinges) to be lightly oiled with sewing machine oil. To adjust friction on stays - adjust the single brass screw located in the black friction block.

Window handles

These should require minimal maintenance; however if they become stiff apply a very small quantity of sewing machine oil.

Windows fitted with Egress Hinges

All side-hung windows are fitted with hinges that allow for you to clean the windows from the inside. When fully opened the window will locate in a position that allows room to clean the outside glass from the inside of your property. The hinges also have provision for Emergency Egress (4). In the event of emergency, the windows should be fully opened, they can then be pushed back to allow the maximum width of opening (5). After use the windows will automatically revert to their normal operational position.

Doors

You have had high quality City Collection doors fitted to your home. They will give you many years of trouble free service with just a little care in cleaning and use. Here are some do-s and don-ts which will help to ensure a trouble free life for your doors:

Do

• Clean the glass regularly with any clear liquid spray type glass cleaner.
• Wash down the doors with warm soapy water and wipe dry.
• Ensure the hinges are free from dirt & dust etc. The hinges can be oiled once a year with a light oil.
• Call us if you have a problem with your doors. They are guaranteed against defect for 10 years.

Don't

• Use any paste or cream cleaner
• Use any types of bleach
• Use any solvents or glues
• Use any abrasive papers or cleaning products

Lever Pad Lock

Please note, with the lever pad option, when the door closes, you will need your key to gain access back into the property.

To Lock

• Pull door to and door will lock on latch
• To make secure hold handle upwards, insert key and turn one revolution

To Unlock

• Insert key and turn one revolution
• Pull handle down fully and release, turn key to enter door

Lever Lever Lock

To Lock

• Turn/hold handle upwards, insert key and turn key one revolution

To Unlock

• Insert key, turn one revolution and withdraw key, pull handle down fully

If Latch Is Not Operated

• Replace key and turn to withdraw latch

It Is Recommended That All Bolts Are Lubricated Occasionally.
