These can include traditional brass sash lifts, locking fasteners, variable position restrictors, tilt support arms, ventilators and opening A-bars. Much of the bespoke hardware has been produced in plastic or anti-corrosion stainless steel.
The balance channels should be kept free of debris and do not require lubrication.
A large range of ventilators are available.
Ventilation systems are to be constructed of PVC-U matched to that of the Norfolk Frames window system or of proprietary products available in aluminium or PVC-U.
Due to the range of options available, appearance can be altered to suit specification requirements, by either locating the ventilator over or through the framing.
All Norfolk Frames ventilation systems are designed to comply with the Building Regulations requiring 4,000mm² free area per habitable room.
The specifically designed ventilation system, to suit all styles of window allows up to twice the requirements of the Building Regulations, is visually unobtrusive being placed on top of the window, and operates with a simple pull mechanism. Built in sound attenuation is also available. As there is no integral routing into the window system, this means that there is no possible weakening or exposure to the elements of the frame system.
Standard Ventilators - these are normally located either through the frame or through the rebates of the frame, to facilitate ventilation.
Most Norfolk Frames windows, doors and curtain walling systems are available in white or woodgrain finishes.
Three different approaches are used to achieve these:
Both wood effect and white finishes are achieved by adding stable pigments to the polymer, resulting in an even distribution of colour and a smooth surface appearance. They comply with BS7413 for all aspects of long term performance. The pigment systems used have been developed following extensive natural weathering trials and artificial ageing studies over a 30-year period.
Several different timber effect finishes including light oak and mahogany are fused to the surface of the profile by means of a heated silicone wheel. The woodgrain foil is fused to the PVC-U in the absence of any substrate using heat and pressure. These foil finishes meet all the requirements of the British Standard for surface coated PVC-U profiles BS7722. Independent weathering tests carried out by the BRE to the method of tests in BS7413 for white profiles show excellent adhesion, gloss and colour retention.
In recent times, specialist paint formulations have been introduced, which are designed to etch into the surface of the PVC-U, giving good long-term bonding and adhesion. The advantage of these finishes is the extended colour range possible.
